Job Overview

The role primarily involves clinical responsibilities associated with the assessment, treatment, and management of pediatric patients within a collaborative setting that includes healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, clinical researchers, and social workers.

This position provides the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of pediatric patients, from general cases to those requiring high-acuity care. Additionally, the role encompasses the education and oversight of medical residents and offers avenues for involvement in research and academic publishing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilizes knowledge of pediatric growth and development in patient interactions and treatment approaches.
  • Engages in continuous professional development through reading medical literature, attending conferences, and obtaining continuing medical education credits.
  • Organizes and conducts monthly training sessions to support the development needs of staff and residents.
  • Manages follow-up on diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and patient communication.
  • Delivers direct clinical services to patients, which includes:
    • Conducting and documenting comprehensive history and physical examinations.
    • Interpreting relevant patient data and formulating treatment plans.
    • Issuing routine orders for laboratory tests, imaging studies, and specialist consultations.
    • Providing education to patients and their families.
    • Performing necessary screenings and administering medications as indicated.
    • Executing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures based on clinical findings.
  • Offers suggestions to enhance departmental operations to the Department Director and attending staff.
  • Contributes to Performance Improvement initiatives, research projects, and academic publications.
  • Participates in the education of medical students and residents, serving as a role model.
  • Engages in the on-call schedule as required.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) from an accredited institution.
  • Active state medical license in good standing.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, maintained throughout employment.
