Job Summary

The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) is seeking a highly skilled Endodontist to join our team on a part-time basis. As an Endodontist, you will specialize in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of damage and/or injury to the tooth pulp, as well as the tissue and nerves within and surrounding the root of a tooth that have become damaged or infected due to some type of bacteria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assume quality of care for patients with endodontic problems while adhering to the highest standard of dental practice ethics and professionalism;
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases of dental pulps and periapical tissues of teeth;
  • Evaluate findings and prescribe method of treatment to prevent loss of teeth and to restore teeth to function;
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases of nerve, pulp, and other dental tissues affecting vitality of teeth;
  • Treat exposure of pulp by pulp capping or removal of pulp from pulp chamber and root canal, using dental instruments;
  • Perform partial or total removal of pulp, using surgical instruments;
  • Treat infected root canal and related tissues, and fill pulp chamber and canal with endodontic materials;
  • Supervise dental students in the LECOM Dental Group Practice on a by-appointment basis;
  • Contribute to the overall student success, including advising and student outcomes;
  • Participate in scholarly activity to enrich and broaden the student learning experience;
  • Represent LECOM in the community, including serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers, and overall outreach.
Requirements
  • Must possess a DMD or DDS degree;
  • Must have a Florida dental license or the capability to obtain one;
  • Must have successfully completed an advanced education program in endodontics accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the ADA;
  • Computer experience in the dental or other related field to allow for axiUm computer program entry;
  • Knowledge of Patient Relations and Scheduling;
  • Knowledge of ADA Coding;
  • Compliance with State and Federal Regulations and Safety Protocols, at the practice level;
  • Knowledge of patient's privacy (HIPAA) and student privacy (FERPA);
  • Follow proper OSHA and safety guidelines;
  • Strong communications skills and computer literacy (MS Office Suite and accurate data entry skills);
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Must be accurate and attentive to detail;
  • Must be trained and certified on the Institutional Data System;
  • Maintaining an established work schedule;
  • Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy;
  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through;
  • Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands;
  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials;
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships;
  • The ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with a workplace of dignity and respect and EEO rules and regulations;
  • The ability to report to work as scheduled, ready to devote full attention and energy to the important work of LECOM;
  • The ability to accept work directives from managers and supervisors in a respectful and cooperative manner.
