Position Overview:

Nightwing is seeking a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer to enhance our Infrastructure, Security, and Monitoring Team, dedicated to serving both commercial and federal clients. This role requires a candidate with a robust background in supporting Security Operations Centers (SOCs) and a blend of engineering and assessment skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and oversee security protocols to safeguard computer networks and sensitive information.
  • Evaluate system vulnerabilities to identify security risks and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure the implementation of appropriate security measures to protect digital assets and critical electronic infrastructure.
  • Assist the SOC in responding to cybersecurity incidents and breaches.
  • Contribute to ongoing tracking, reporting, and recommendations regarding Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms).

Essential Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 4 years of experience in cybersecurity.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail and documentation.
  • Experience in the administration and management of POA&Ms.
  • Proficiency in managing and assessing security controls.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Cyber technologies aligned with NIST 800 Series and DoD 8570 regulations.
  • Understanding of Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) principles, including two-factor authentication and end-point security.
  • Experience with security tools such as Rapid 7, Tenable Security Center, and Nessus.
  • Knowledge of maintaining Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA) inventory records using tools like Xacta360.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
