Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight:
  • Manage all facets of paving operations, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating crew activities.
  • Direct and supervise the work of paving teams, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Ensure the availability of all materials, equipment, and tools on-site as required, collaborating with the Project Superintendent and suppliers.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Evaluate the quality of work performed, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of ongoing work and completed sections to promptly identify and address any issues.
  • Maintain precise records of daily work activities, including material usage, equipment hours, and labor hours.
  • Safety Oversight:
  • Implement all safety protocols and regulations on the job site, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and company policies.
  • Facilitate daily safety meetings and inspections, identifying potential hazards and executing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure that all personnel are adequately trained and equipped with the necessary safety gear and tools.
  • Crew Management:
  • Lead, train, and mentor crew members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to crew members, ensuring efficient labor and equipment utilization.
  • Resolve any conflicts or issues that arise on-site, maintaining focus on project objectives and timelines.
  • Coordination and Communication:
  • Collaborate with the Project Superintendent, Project Manager, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of paving activities with the overall project schedule.
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors, inspectors, and other project team members to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Provide regular updates to the Project Superintendent regarding the progress of paving activities, encountered issues, and corrective measures taken.
  • Equipment Oversight:
  • Ensure that all paving equipment is properly maintained, serviced, and operated according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Monitor the performance and efficiency of paving machinery, making necessary adjustments to optimize production.
  • Coordinate with equipment operators and mechanics to promptly address any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, with a specialization in roadway paving.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the capability to manage and motivate a team of construction workers.
  • Extensive knowledge of paving operations, including asphalt placement, compaction, and grading.
  • Familiarity with civil construction methods, materials, and equipment utilized in roadway paving.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in heavy civil construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record; CDL is preferred.
