Job Title: Medication Technician/Care Partner

Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medication Technician/Care Partner to join our team. As a Medication Technician/Care Partner, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and secure delivery of medications and health-related items to our residents. You will also assist in developing, coordinating, and performing tasks on the service plan according to the resident's preferences and abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to and convey the philosophy of Assisted Living, with awareness and practice in accordance with state regulations.
  • Receive report from previous shift and Med Aide, read Communication Log and Shower Schedule for information and changes at the beginning of each day, and document in the Communication Log and Progress notes as appropriate.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, environmental orientation, vital signs, first aid, wound care, and communication with outside healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of infection control and universal precautions, document care given adhering to facility policies and procedures, and maintain a clean, neat, comfortable, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Report deficiencies observed in resident apartments, clothing, and linen, and complete Incident Report form as needed for any unusual occurrence.
  • Observe and communicate any changes in resident physical or mental status as directed, and be thoroughly familiar with fire, missing persons, and other emergency procedures, following facility policy and procedures detailed in fire and disaster plans.
  • Avoid loss, breakage, and waste of supplies and equipment, maintain a neat and orderly Medication Room, and wear a name tag always.
  • Assist residents moving in or out as directed, maintain current resident records, including obtaining current physician orders, clarifying orders, and alert and monthly charting, and order, store, and assist with medications according to facility policy and procedure and current physician orders.
  • Maintain, transcribe, and document in the Medication Assistance Record according to Policy and Procedure, maintain service plans, and may participate in Service Plan reviews.
  • Supervise and monitor floor staff, and perform all other duties assigned by any member of management.
Requirements:
  • Must have First Aid & CPR Certification.
  • Perform resident care with an awareness of dignity and individuality, with understanding and concern.
  • Maintain acceptable attendance record, notify supervisor if late or unable to work in accordance with personnel policies, and follow work schedule.
  • Requires minimal supervision, is a self-starter, organizes and utilizes time appropriately, sets priorities, and accomplishes assigned tasks.
  • Displays mature behavior and attitude in speech and action, demonstrates consistently pleasant demeanor, tone of voice, supports the philosophy and approach to care used by the facility.
  • Keeps resident information confidential, respects resident's rights, respects privacy and right to self-determination of residents.
  • Performs unpleasant tasks with grace, works cooperatively with supervisors, and displays willingness to assist co-workers.
  • Abides by established policies and procedures of facility, looks for ways to improve facility functioning, keeps work areas neat and clean, helps maintain appearance of facility, and can communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing.
  • Has ability to spend long periods of feet and to ambulate quickly, is free of non-treated communicable diseases, is accurate, dependable, neat, and thorough in assigned tasks, and has ability and willingness to learn quickly.
