CNC Machinist III Job Description

The CNC Machinist III/Programmer is a key member of our team at Mikros, responsible for the setup, programming, and operation of CNC vertical mills and lathes in our high-precision environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate CNC vertical mills and lathes with precision and care.
  • Program CNC machines using Mastercam and select the correct cutting tools, speeds, and feeds as necessary.
  • Adjust cutter compensation and work offsets on machine tools to achieve desired results.
  • Operate lathes with sub-spindles and live tools, and adjust cutter compensation and work offsets to achieve desired results.
  • Setup and operate Wire EDM and EDM drill.
  • Utilize the Omax Water Jet to produce production and prototype parts.
  • Use inspection tools to measure and ensure quality of work.
  • Perform rough and power sanding and deburring operations.
  • Operate inspection equipment, including sanding, lapping, and polishing machines.
  • Create setup sheets and first-article inspection reports.
  • Collaborate with engineering on product design and successfully machine process fixtures.
  • Ensure quality of work by monitoring the process and performing first-article inspection on all components when required.
Requirements:
  • Attention to detail and good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work to written or verbal instructions and direction.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective team collaboration.
  • Positive can-do attitude.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a machinist position.
  • Standing for prolonged periods throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds consistently throughout the day.
