Oncology Registered Nurse Job Description

The Oncology Registered Nurse plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care in a hospital or clinic setting. This position requires a strong understanding of oncology nursing principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialized oncology nursing care to patients, including administering chemotherapy, blood products, and medications.
  • Assess patients' conditions, identify their needs, and develop individualized care plans.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient care and coordinate treatment plans.
  • Educate patients and families about cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs, side effects, and pain levels, and report any significant changes to supervisors or physicians.
Requirements:
  • Current RN license in the state of practice.
  • One year of experience in oncology nursing preferred.
  • Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
