Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Security Officer to join our team at MaineHealth. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor the healthcare environment to prevent security incidents and de-escalate emerging incidents.
  • Provide protective services and, with sufficient training, patient restraints as deemed necessary by medical staff.
  • Assist with the development and coordination of related departmental policies, procedures, and programs, in accordance with federal, state, OSHA, and NIOSH regulations.
  • Participate in training programs, including MOAB, OCAT, PATH, and Hazmat training, to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Report all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or possess a G.E.D. diploma preferred. Post Secondary education is preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license required. Completion of MOAB, handcuffing and pepper spray certifications, hazmat certification, NIMS 100, 200, 700 within your FTO period.
  • Previous experience as a Security Officer in a healthcare setting is desired but not required.
  • Ability to work and communicate with staff and patients in high-stress situations.
  • Proactive approach to duties and ability to complete tasks independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn and use multiple computer programs, including camera monitoring systems, dispatching programs, badge access, door and panic alarms.
  • Discretion when handling sensitive information under federal guidelines of HIPAA.
