Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Acadia Healthcare. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in identifying the educational needs of students and developing personalized plans to meet those needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement formal educational plans to meet the unique needs of students
  • Create engaging lesson plans to teach subjects and promote effective communication skills
  • Observe and evaluate students' educational abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, and work with them to improve their abilities and address weaknesses
  • Teach and mentor students in a supportive and inclusive environment
  • Communicate effectively with family members, counselors, administrators, and other teachers to ensure progress and success
  • Work with students individually to help overcome specific learning challenges and prepare them for standardized tests
  • Document educational plans, goals, and progress as required by the facility and state
  • Supervise classroom and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Develop and enforce classroom rules and administrative policies
  • Supervise students outside of the classroom setting
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
  • Special Education Teacher certification or licensure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, and staff
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Education or related field
  • Experience working with students with special needs
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
