About the Role
The Railroad Track Maintenance Technician will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the rail infrastructure. This position requires a strong understanding of track authority and the ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and maintain rail infrastructure, including tracks, bridges, and road crossings.
- Perform manual labor tasks, such as lifting and moving heavy materials, and working in varying weather conditions.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment, such as cranes and forklifts.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with other team members to achieve project goals and objectives.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of track authority and railroad operations.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure smooth project execution.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent required; 3-6 months of job-related experience preferred.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Valid driver's license with no restrictions required.
- CDL required (or must be obtained).
- Ability to pass Track Ground School, GCOR Written Test, Roadway Worker Protection Written Test, Fall Protection Written Test, Maintenance of Way Safety Written Test, MSHA/OSHA Training and Certification (if required on site).
Working Conditions
The Railroad Track Maintenance Technician will work in a fast-paced environment with varying weather conditions. The position requires the ability to work outdoors and in confined spaces, and to lift and move heavy materials.
