About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Academic Instructor to join our team at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. This is a non-tenure track faculty position, and the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in various social science disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and teach engaging courses in areas such as Geography, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, and Social Work;
- Demonstrate exceptional teaching skills and adapt to different learning formats, including classroom, online, and hybrid instruction;
- Collaborate with department staff to ensure seamless delivery of academic programs;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair.
Requirements
- Masters degree or higher in a related field from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the discipline being taught;
- Experience in college teaching, preferably in a social science field;
- Familiarity with Canvas or other learning management systems.
Desirable Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- Ability to effectively instruct in face-to-face and virtual learning formats;
- Demonstrated growth in cultural competence and experience in establishing positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.
Educational Requirements
The ideal candidate should have a Master's degree or higher in a related field and meet the specific requirements outlined above.
Compensation Package
The salary range for this position is approximately $60,000-$80,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
