Licensed Plumbing Technician

Compensation:
$32 - $36 per hour

Company Overview:

The Plumbing Technician is skilled in various aspects of construction trades, collaborating with other professionals, and ensuring the availability of tools and materials at job sites.

The role requires the ability to interact tactfully and effectively with colleagues, management, and clients.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Conducting routine inspections and assessments of buildings, identifying needs, and coordinating corrective actions with management and external contractors.
  • Demonstrating proven plumbing expertise.
  • Cutting, assembling, and installing pipes and tubes while considering existing infrastructure.
  • Identifying and resolving issues with water supply lines and drainage systems.
  • Installing and maintaining water supply networks.
  • Repairing or replacing damaged drainage lines, clogged drains, faucets, etc.
  • Installing waste disposal and sanitary systems with effective DWV systems.
  • Utilizing plumbing tools and equipment (pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, plungers, etc.).
  • Adhering to state regulations and local building codes.
  • Exhibiting the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Being prepared to work nights or weekends on a rotating basis to address emergency service needs.
  • Maintaining the company vehicle in good working order, including refueling and reporting mechanical issues.
  • Following all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Keeping an adequate stock of parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle.

Documentation of Installed Equipment:
Record details such as make, model, serial number, fuel type, necessary test measurements, and photographs as required.

  • Diagnosing various service issues, procuring replacement parts, calibrating systems to manufacturer specifications, and providing detailed explanations to the Maintenance Supervisor regarding issues and required corrections.
  • Completing work orders and documenting materials used during jobs. Accurately maintaining records of materials and labor.
  • Participating in training opportunities provided by the company to stay updated on the latest industry technologies.
  • Identifying and reporting potential business opportunities to the Maintenance Supervisor (new systems, service contracts, and additional services).
  • Being available for overtime as needed to fulfill assigned tasks – time off may be offered or required within the same pay period to meet budgetary requirements.
  • Exhibiting strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ensuring the company vehicle is well-maintained, including refueling and reporting any mechanical issues.

Position Requirements:
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

A certificate or two-year degree in plumbing from a trade school or community college is preferred, or completion of a plumbing apprenticeship program.


Licenses and Certifications:
A valid driver's license and a valid plumbing license are required.

Experience:
Three to five years of experience in inspecting, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting plumbing systems and equipment is necessary.

Skills:

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, plumbing diagrams, and manufacturer's installation manuals.

Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to exceeding customer expectations.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with arms and hands. The employee must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift/move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment:

The characteristics of the work environment described here represent those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. The noise level is typically moderate.
