We are currently seeking a qualified Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering, along with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or the capability to obtain one within six months in New Mexico, Texas, or Arizona.


Your responsibilities will include conducting and preparing comprehensive reports for geotechnical assessments across a range of projects, such as foundation design, pavement evaluation, and slope stability analysis.

You will investigate the characteristics of ground and surface waters, soils, and bedrock to inform land use and planning decisions. This role involves fieldwork, including logging borings, mapping, and performing both field and laboratory testing and analysis.

Key tasks include executing field or laboratory geotechnical tests, analyzing soil and rock strength, assessing consolidation, compression, swell properties, and evaluating retaining walls and slope stability. You will also conduct seismic refraction and microtremor surveys for rippability and seismic site classifications.

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Analyzing soil samples to determine engineering properties
  • Reviewing engineering plans
  • Inspecting development sites
  • Collecting and overseeing soil sampling through borings and test pits
  • Performing and supervising laboratory tests
  • Providing recommendations on foundation design, soil bearing capacity, slope stability, and lateral earth pressures
  • Assisting in the preparation of cost proposals
  • Contributing to the writing of geotechnical evaluation reports
