Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Radiology Department Support Specialist to join our team at Yale-New Haven Health. As a key member of our radiology team, you will provide administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of our department.

Responsibilities
  • Process patient check-in and scheduling, ensuring accurate documentation and pre-certification.
  • Coordinate patient appointments, follow-up, and lab orders, ensuring correct exam information is entered.
  • Screen and record incoming calls, providing accurate and concise information to staff and customers.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of medical records and information.
  • Perform secretarial support functions, including supply ordering, processing requests, and maintaining departmental information.
  • Contribute to meeting fluctuating staffing needs by being flexible with assignments and work schedules.
  • Adapt to upgrades in Meditech and other software, maintaining computer skills and knowledge.
  • Provide customer service support to internal and external customers, responding to typing, copying, and faxing needs.
  • Print daily schedules and match with scanned physician orders, entering CPT codes as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and healthy environment for staff and patients.
  • Unload and reload multiviewer at designated times in the mammography department.
  • Call for outside mammography films and make reminder calls to patients for next-day appointments.
  • Screen MRI patients for implants, pacers, metal tattoos, and breast implants.
  • Access reports and patient data via the Radiology Information System, PACS, and related software systems.
  • Reprint and package hard copy images, electronic files, or CDs via PACS and Kinetdx for distribution and delivery.
  • Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and staff and self-development.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; medical terminology preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in a healthcare environment, with ability to work well with the public and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Meditech and keyboarding skills; excellent communication skills.
  • Previous scheduling experience preferred.
