Shop Foreman Job Description

United Rentals is seeking a skilled Shop Foreman to lead our maintenance enterprise and ensure the safe and efficient maintenance and repair of our rental equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the activities of Service Technicians to maximize productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Train and supervise mechanical personnel to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment, including diagnosing and supervising the repair of equipment to ensure work is performed efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date paperwork and electronic documentation of work performed, including work orders.
  • Travel to customer job sites as required to repair or maintain rental or customer-owned equipment, and maintain a clean and professional service vehicle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; trade school degree a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • At least 5 years of experience repairing and maintaining equipment and tools.
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
  • Must own tools applicable to the position.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction equipment, including schematics and diagrams.
  • Strong diagnostic and repair skills for a variety of systems.
  • Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals' policies and procedures.
