Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technician to join our team at MUSC Health Charleston. As a Histology Technician, you will be responsible for performing routine and complex histologic procedures, including processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains, and immunohistochemistry. You will work under direct supervision and be responsible for quality control on completed slides, identifying problems that may affect diagnosis and results, and recording observations from tests.

Responsibilities

  • Identify problems that may affect diagnosis and results and record observations from tests.
  • Document maintenance of instruments and equipment used in the lab.
  • Comply with established laboratory policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of full-time experience in histology.
  • Embedding and microtomy skills.
  • BLS, HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC).
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in histotechnology, biology, or other related scientific discipline, QIHC.
Work Environment

This position works on the MUSC Charleston campus. No floating required. Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season, all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. Hurricane season runs from June through November each year. The peak months for hurricane activity are August and September.
