Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Elk Grove Veterinary Specialty & Emergency. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support veterinarians in delivering high-quality care to pets, advocating for their needs, and educating clients on their health.
  • Assist with hospital functions to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and maintain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
Requirements
  • Emergency Veterinary Assistant experience required.
  • One year or more of experience in a veterinary hospital.
  • Professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and client service skills.
  • A love of animals and the ability to warmly welcome and compassionately care for a wide variety of pets.
  • Flexible availability, including overnights, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, with an hourly pay rate starting at $16-$23/hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
