Key Responsibilities
  • Work under the supervision of a Shop Supervisor and collaborate with shop team members to achieve project goals.
  • Practice safe and thorough work habits, adhering to company safety protocols.
  • Study and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Use basic math skills to calculate dimensions and weights, ensuring accurate material usage.
  • Inspect materials to be welded or worked on, identifying any defects or irregularities.
  • Perform final inspections on finished welds, ensuring they meet quality standards.
  • Operate an Oxy/Acetylene torch and weld using various techniques and in different positions.
  • Grind and gouge metal for extended periods, as required.
  • Use overhead bridge cranes to move materials around the shop, adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Apply rigging techniques with overhead bridge cranes and fit steel using key plates, bull pins, keys, shims, lifting lugs, nuts, and U-bars.
  • Perform welding tasks using GMAW/FCAW/SMAW techniques, adhering to AWS D1.1 and AWWA D100 standards.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to work 40+ hours per week, with a reliable transportation method.
  • Working knowledge of the welding industry, including safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Ability to pass weld tests in horizontal and vertical positions, as per ASME Section IX.
  • Proficiency in FCAW and GMAW welding techniques.
  • Able to consistently produce X-Ray quality welds in production.
