Position Summary: The Surgical Technician plays a crucial role in the surgical team by performing a variety of technical tasks that ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment while maintaining a sterile environment during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Room Preparation: Assists in the turnover of operating rooms in line with established protocols and departmental standards.
  2. Surgical Assistance: Engages in various surgical procedures by supporting surgeons at the surgical site, which includes:
  • Preparing and organizing the operating room, ensuring all instruments and equipment are set up according to established guidelines.
  • Handling and maintaining surgical instruments to prevent damage.
  • Assessing patient and procedure requirements to determine setup and supply needs.
  • Communicating effectively with the surgical team to ensure comprehensive preparedness.
  • Seeking assistance for complex procedures based on personal expertise level.
  • Managing and labeling specimens accurately.
  • Contributing to the maintenance and updating of physician preference cards.
Supply Management: Participates in the restocking and cleaning of operating rooms and specialty carts to support efficient department operations.Training and Mentorship: Acts as a preceptor for students, providing orientation on the roles and responsibilities of a Surgical Technician.Additional Duties: Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.Organizational Mission:
