At The Fountain Group, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced research scientist to join our Protein Sciences group in the Chicago area.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Biologist II to provide protein purification support for a variety of small molecule drug discovery programs. The ideal candidate will have extensive protein purification experience and be proficient in chromatography and AKTA instrument.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Purify recombinant proteins using chromatographic methods.
  • Characterize protein with SDS-PAGE, western blot, and other biophysical methods.
  • Provide scientific insight to overcome issues such as solubility, purity, heterogeneity, and yield.
  • Ensure that experiments are planned and coordinated cross-functionally, as well as executed effectively.
  • Author technical reports and documents.
Qualifications:
  • BS or MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or other relevant biological sciences with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Protein purification experience.
  • Characterization of protein samples via SDS-PAGE, western blot, TSA.
  • Extensive experience in protein expression and purification.
  • Familiarity with the AKTA system is preferred.
  • Prior experience in supporting protein X-ray crystallography, and biophysical characterizations of proteins is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in protein-ligand interactions.
  • Cell culture experience.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills.
  • The ability to build open and collaborative relationships in a multidisciplinary environment are essential.
  • Good record keeping and able to efficiently manage several projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
