Key Responsibilities
  • Provide routine paramedical treatment to animals, including administering medication and assisting with medical procedures.
  • Assist veterinarians with surgeries and other medical procedures.
  • Conduct physical examinations to determine the nature of illness or injury.
  • Collect and label specimens for culture or microscopic examination.
  • Maintain sanitary conditions in kennels and cages.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience performing paramedical tasks in a veterinarian office or animal shelter.
  • Possession of a California Registered Veterinary Health Technician or Animal Health Technician Certificate.
  • Valid CA driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, and medication and pharmaceuticals used in the care and treatment of animals.
  • Ability to recognize dog and cat breeds, marine, livestock, wildlife, and exotic animals.
