Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at the City of Gainesville, GA. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, preventing crimes, and protecting life and property. You will be assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division or the Warrant Unit, depending on your skills and experience.

Job Duties
  • Arrest suspects and complete arrest reports
  • Write reports on various calls answered and incidents investigated
  • Conduct field sobriety evaluations and administer Intoxilyzer tests
  • Provide courtroom security and serve subpoenas and warrants
  • Conduct rounds of downtown businesses and shopping centers to maintain good public relations
  • Investigate unusual crowds and behavior, and search for perpetrators
  • Enforce parking ordinances and direct traffic
  • Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Law Enforcement Certification
  • Valid Georgia Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal, state, and city laws pertaining to law enforcement
  • Knowledge of investigation procedures and techniques
  • Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
