How You Will Make an Impact

In this capacity, your primary responsibility will be to inspect, install, troubleshoot, adjust, and repair electro-mechanical systems and facilities. This role demands a safety-conscious, self-driven individual with a positive demeanor, effective time management, organizational skills, and meticulous record-keeping abilities. A successful candidate will demonstrate the following capabilities:

  • Willingness to accept overtime and varied shift schedules as required, including responding to emergency call-outs.
  • Machine Maintenance: Interprets specifications and complex diagrams, manuals, and verbal/written instructions. Disassembles and reassembles equipment to diagnose and rectify malfunctions; repairs or replaces defective components as necessary. Installs and removes processing equipment as required.
  • Prepares, installs, repairs, and maintains piping systems, various pumps, and conveyor systems.
  • Conducts welding operations on diverse structures and metal products, following safety protocols. Plans welding procedures to minimize distortion and enhance quality, utilizing techniques such as heliarc, arc, or gas welding.
  • Plumbing: Responsible for the maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures, including water tanks, heaters, pipes, and joints.
  • Commits to a safe working environment, actively participating in Cabot's safety, health, and environmental initiatives. Attends scheduled team meetings and fulfills safety training obligations.
  • Utilizes a variety of hand and power tools effectively.
  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment and systems.
  • Employs computerized management systems to log maintenance work orders and document completed tasks.
  • Applies analytical skills and root cause analysis to identify reasons for equipment failures.
  • Completes necessary documentation related to maintenance and non-maintenance activities.
  • Supports the implementation and maintenance of the Responsible Care Management System and ISO Management Systems.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned.
What You Will Bring to Cabot
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/technical school associate degree in a related field or military equivalency preferred. A minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial or chemical manufacturing setting is required.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant work instructions, procedures, policies, and industry standards (OSHA, RC14001, ISO 9001, PSM).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated and dependable.
  • Capacity to remain composed and respond effectively in critical situations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and accuracy in task execution.
  • Familiarity with various machine tools, mechanical components, and their operations.
  • Knowledge of welding procedures and maintenance techniques, including the use of hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Able to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues promptly.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and proficiency with measuring instruments.
  • Ability to interpret complex operating instructions and technical manuals.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a variety of tasks and changing work schedules.
  • Basic math skills and effective organizational capabilities.
  • Physical requirements include climbing, standing, and lifting as necessary.
  • Must be able to pass required health assessments and utilize necessary safety equipment.
