About the Position

University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center (UH-SCC) and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) are seeking two full-time physicists to join the Department of Radiation Oncology. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in building several clinical, research, and educational programs in partnership with the department's leadership team to propel UH-SCC to be a world-class center of excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in clinical, research, and educational programs in partnership with the department's leadership team.
  • Join a team of 20 physicists and 15 dosimetrists and participate in all routine clinical medical physics tasks such as acceptance and commissioning, quality assurance, direct patient care, radiation safety, and treatment planning support.
  • Teach didactic courses for physician residents and mentor physics residents, dosimetry students, and guide trainees as multiple educational programs are under development, including a medical physics graduate program.
  • Participate in research and development opportunities, including startup packages and department funding for research.
About Seidman Cancer Center and the Department of Radiation Oncology

UH is comprised of 23 hospitals, of which cancer services are currently at 15 centers. UH-SCC is consistently ranked as a top cancer center by US News and World Report, is one of only a select number of centers with NCI designation, and even fewer with a proton center. UH-SCC is part of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, which consistently is in the top 10 accruing sites to cooperative group trials in the nation.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree required.
  • 0-3 years of experience.
  • ABR Board eligible; Part I required.
  • Must demonstrate effective organization, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with one or two specialty treatments such as MR-linac, proton therapy, brachytherapy, or Gamma Knife is preferred but not required.
  • Interest in research and teaching is preferred but not required.
