Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Oncology Pharmacist to join our team at Inova Schar and Cancer Institute. As an Oncology Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of our department by preparing and dispensing pharmaceutical preparations in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize clinical documentation to obtain prior authorization approvals and appeals.
  • Assist patients with timely pharmacy access to medications and document all related communications with patients, physicians, finance, nursing, case management in appropriate platforms.
  • Work with payers to obtain coverage for patients and appropriate emergency one-time overrides when needed and resolve prescription insurance billing problems.
  • Clean equipment, maintain all required temperature logs, and maintain accurate inventory values and drug procurement as per policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient profiles and allergy and up-to-date medication reconciliation lists.
  • Utilize manufacturer hubs to ensure Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy and other dispensing requirements are met.
Qualifications
  • One (1) year of experience working in a hospital as an Oncology Pharmacist.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy.
  • Licensed Pharmacist in the state of VA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.
