Job Summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Care Attendant to join our team. As a Personal Care Attendant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to our participants, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care and services to assist participants with activities of daily living, including toileting, showers, eating assistance, grooming, and oral care.
  • Assist participants in physical and recreational activities, promoting their independence and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate and current participant care and service documentation, adhering to PACE policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure participants' needs are consistently met and a clean, sanitary, and safe environment is maintained.
  • Escort participants to medical, dental, optometry, rehabilitation, and other appointments as assigned.
  • Perform laundry and other assigned housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Protect participants' privacy and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma, GED, or applicable work experience.
  • Completion of a nursing assistant training program totaling at least 75 hours.
  • Maintains current CPR status.
  • Maintains current Mandatory Reporter status.
  • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
  • Valid Auto insurance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to follow through with verbal and written directions and instructions accurately and in a timely manner with increasing independence.
  • Working knowledge of physical, mental, and social needs of the frail elderly population.
  • Knowledge of appropriate redirection techniques involved in relating to and caring for individuals with dementia.
  • Ability to properly and safely use assistive devices and personal care equipment.
  • Ability to problem-solve and plan effectively.
  • Effective listening and oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintains and develops basic computer skills.
