The Role:
As the General Manager, you will oversee the transport and logistics operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and profitability. You will lead a large team, develop strategic plans, and work closely with senior leadership to drive growth and improve service delivery.
This role requires a strong leader with in-depth knowledge of transport regulations, compliance, and health & safety standards. You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and suppliers, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day transport operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of services
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and profitability
- Lead, mentor, and manage a large team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, health & safety, and environmental standards
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and suppliers
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance of the transport division
- Collaborate with senior leadership on business development and strategic growth plans
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a General Manager or senior leadership role within the transport/logistics sector
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- In-depth knowledge of transport regulations, compliance, and health & safety standards
- Demonstrated success in operational efficiency, business development, and profitability
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and P&L
