Job Overview

Position: Registered Nurse - Advanced Care - PRN


Qualifications:
Must be a graduate from an accredited nursing program. A valid nursing license in the State of Arkansas is required. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Experience and Training:
New hires will undergo a tailored orientation period, typically lasting between 2 weeks to 3 months.

Essential Knowledge:

The role involves applying nursing practices as defined by the ability to diagnose and treat human responses to actual or potential health changes. This includes utilizing the nursing process for care delivery, which encompasses administering prescribed treatments, medications, and diagnostic tests, developing care plans based on identified issues, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, and educating patients and their families.

To ensure the safety and health of all patients, staff, and visitors, Unity Health categorizes certain roles as "safety sensitive." These positions require that any impairment in performance could pose risks to the health and safety of oneself or others.

Associates engaged in the use of medical marijuana, even with a valid medical marijuana card, will not be eligible for employment in a "safety sensitive" role.


Job Responsibilities:


The Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, identification of nursing challenges, implementation, and evaluation of care.

Collaboration with various professional disciplines is crucial to ensure effective patient care and to achieve desired health outcomes. The nurse may also serve as a resource for other nursing staff when adequately oriented and directed.

Incorporating knowledge of patients' age, cultural backgrounds, and their spiritual and emotional needs is vital in providing comprehensive patient care.

Contributes to enhancing the quality of nursing care through performance improvement strategies that yield positive patient outcomes.



Physical Demands:
Maintaining good physical and emotional health is necessary for this role. The job entails significant physical activity, including:
  • Assisting with lifting and moving patients.
  • Pushing carts, wheelchairs, and other medical equipment.
  • Lifting or pushing weights of up to 50 pounds.

Additionally, the individual must be capable of bending to perform specific tasks, such as checking drainage or urinary output.

Mobility throughout the facility is required, especially in response to emergencies. Visual and auditory skills are essential for interpreting environmental inputs. The role also involves a considerable amount of documentation and computer usage, necessitating movement to various departments.

Exposure to potentially hazardous materials, including infectious body fluids, may require the use of personal protective equipment such as gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles.
