Job Title: Assistant Accounting Clerk

Job Summary:

The Assistant Accounting Clerk plays a vital role in the financial operations of Citizens Bank, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of accounts payable processes. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and pay vendor invoices and employee expense reimbursements in a timely manner.
  • Review and verify bills, invoices, and expense reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Code invoices with correct vendor numbers, input detailed descriptions, and assign general ledger and department numbers.
  • Determine whether invoices should be paid as current expenses or prepaid expenses and assign the appropriate expense periods.
  • Maintain vendor records, including collecting and entering contact information and TINs into the accounts payable software system.
  • Monitor internal DDA accounts and record income and expenses as needed.
  • Prepare and distribute 1099-MISC forms to vendors and record remittances to the IRS.
  • Stay current with IRS reporting requirements for 1099-MISC.
  • Monitor and document sales and use tax.
  • Perform annual end-of-year close-out and cycling of accounts payable records.
  • Communicate with accounts payable software vendor support team as needed.
  • Assist with preparation of annual budget by providing detailed records of expenditures.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; two-year degree in accounting or business preferred.
  • Two years' experience in banking, finance, or accounting field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and familiarity with Access preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Working Conditions:

This role involves some pressure to meet deadlines, but no unusual physical factors or demands are associated with this job. The work environment is above average.
