About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Academic Advisor to join our team at Elgin Community College. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a vital role in helping students achieve their academic and career goals. You will work closely with students to develop personalized education plans, provide guidance on course selection, and help students navigate the college's resources and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic advising to students, including developing education plans and recommending courses
  • Work with students to identify and overcome obstacles that may impact their academic success
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure students receive a comprehensive support system
  • Stay up-to-date on college policies and procedures, as well as relevant laws and regulations
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance advising skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field
  • One year of related experience working in education or human services
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
