About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at Summit Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate radiologic or fluoroscopy equipment to produce diagnostic-quality images for medical professionals to interpret.
- Assist patients in preparing for radiologic procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
- Verify patient identification and ensure accurate routing of studies to the appropriate medical professionals.
- Maintain a daily log of patients seen and ensure accurate documentation of procedures performed.
- Collaborate with medical professionals to obtain essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans for clinical correlation.
- Monitor patient reactions to treatment and report any changes to the appropriate medical professional.
- Prepare and assist patients for radiologic procedures, providing education and support to ensure their comfort and understanding.
- Observe and follow safety procedures, including radiation protection and universal precautions, to ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform quality control checks on equipment and report any deficiencies to the appropriate personnel.
- Work independently and demonstrate flexibility in work assignments, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and ensure efficient workflow.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in technology and safety protocols, maintaining a high level of knowledge and expertise in diagnostic imaging.
- Process studies onto CD or film format for patient study requests, maintaining HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized working environment, adhering to infection control protocols and sterile technique.
- Stay familiar with emergency drugs and equipment locations, as well as departmental systems, including booking, scheduling, duplication, and PACS.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through training and continuing education requirements, staying current with industry developments and advancements.
Requirements
- Active Radiology License in the state of Connecticut and ARRT Certification.
- Superior diagnostic imaging skills, maintaining high-quality images in accordance with standardized procedures.
- Excellent patient and people skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, medical professionals, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain a high level of knowledge in human anatomy and cross-sectional anatomy, proper positioning skills, and appropriate utilization of protocols and scanning techniques.
- High knowledge of routine procedures and applications, with the ability to adapt to new technologies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the Connecticut State Department of Health, Bureau of Environmental Protection, and The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
