Position Overview:
This role requires either relocation or a local candidate, as relocation assistance is not provided. The Heavy Equipment Operator position in the Crushing Department involves moving materials such as asphalt and concrete.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of equipment to ensure safety and identify mechanical issues.
- Safely operate construction equipment to transport materials like concrete and asphalt.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintain equipment as necessary.
- Assist with general labor tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Strong focus on safety.
- Ability to follow oral instructions and communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
- Willingness to learn and adhere to all safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to travel and work overtime as needed.
- Must pass a drug screening.
- Strong work ethic required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands listed below are representative of what must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Ability to push and pull with hands, arms, and feet repetitively.
- Good visual and auditory capabilities to navigate a hazardous construction environment.
- Awareness of multiple concurrent activities on the construction site, including other employees, subcontractors, machinery, and moving traffic.
- Coordination between hands, eyes, and feet to guide equipment and objects.
- Ability to mount and dismount vehicles and equipment.
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain.
- Capability to lift up to 70 pounds.
Environmental Conditions:
- All work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to natural elements.
- Experience with different types of terrain.
