Position Overview:
This role requires either relocation or a local candidate, as relocation assistance is not provided. The Heavy Equipment Operator position in the Crushing Department involves moving materials such as asphalt and concrete.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of equipment to ensure safety and identify mechanical issues.
  • Safely operate construction equipment to transport materials like concrete and asphalt.
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintain equipment as necessary.
  • Assist with general labor tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Strong focus on safety.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions and communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
  • Willingness to learn and adhere to all safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to travel and work overtime as needed.
  • Must pass a drug screening.
  • Strong work ethic required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands listed below are representative of what must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Ability to push and pull with hands, arms, and feet repetitively.
  • Good visual and auditory capabilities to navigate a hazardous construction environment.
  • Awareness of multiple concurrent activities on the construction site, including other employees, subcontractors, machinery, and moving traffic.
  • Coordination between hands, eyes, and feet to guide equipment and objects.
  • Ability to mount and dismount vehicles and equipment.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain.
  • Capability to lift up to 70 pounds.

Environmental Conditions:

  • All work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to natural elements.
  • Experience with different types of terrain.
