About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Barista to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a Barista, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide outstanding customer service by acting with a customer-first attitude and connecting with our guests.
  • Operational Excellence: Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked workspace, and follow all recipe and presentation standards to ensure quality beverages and food products.
  • Team Development: Assist with new Barista training and positively reinforce successful performance.
  • Inventory and Equipment Management: Maintain inventory and equipment by cleaning and reporting malfunctions to the Dining Director.
  • Process Improvement: Evaluate and recommend modifying processes to improve efficiency and quality of service.
Requirements
  • Knowledge: Basic food service operations, common kitchen appliances and utensils, and cleaning methods.
  • Ability: Learn to operate food services equipment/appliances, learn to operate cash register and point of sale, observe safety requirements, and use effective interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands: Frequent reaching, walking, standing, lifting, stooping, or carrying of equipment and materials may be required.

Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a commercial cafeteria environment, with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule.
