Job Summary

This is a professional-level Physical Therapist I position involving the evidence-based evaluation of patient disabilities, planning, and administration of physical therapy treatments. The incumbent will complete documentation, instruct patients, families, and students, and participate in clinical program development and management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnostic Testing: Administer basic and complex diagnostic tests and evaluations in the area of Physical Therapy for the treatment of mobility disorders and related impairments.
  • Education: Teach and supervise graduate Physical Therapy students and/or clinical fellows/residents. Develop innovative programs to enhance patient care and serve as a resource consultant to other clinicians in the respective specialty area.
  • Evaluation of Care: Analyze results of diagnostic and/or therapeutic testing to establish patient goals and/or modify subsequent treatment programs. Identify expected patient outcomes and communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
  • Implementation: Select and apply current and advanced techniques to provide quality and efficient rehabilitative services. Provide habilitation/rehabilitation and maintenance of persons with mobility-related impairments. Organize and prioritize care according to patient/family needs.
  • Outreach/Community Involvement: Serve as a resource to government departments and statewide health professionals in specialty areas. Present at local or state level, participate in community health screening and events, and participate in the development of new clinical programs to meet emerging needs.
  • Participation: Contribute to the quality of clinical services through attendance and participation in departmental meetings and in-services.
  • Quality: Contribute to the quality of clinical services through maintenance of valid and reliable records of patient procedures and progress. Participate in quality improvement initiatives with other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
  • Licensure/Certification: Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state of North Carolina and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Professional Experience: No prior experience required.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Possess knowledge and skills in physical therapy, rehabilitation, and patient care.
