About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to join our New Programs Engineering team at Tesla. As a key member of this team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our vehicle designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Definition: Develop and document product plans, identify risks, and present key decisions to design, engineering, and leadership teams.
  • Studio Engineering: Collaborate with designers, digital modelers, and clay modelers to define manufacturing strategies and ensure geometrical solutions are feasible for mass production.
  • Concept Development: Brainstorm and develop new solutions for automotive applications, using CAD and building prototypes to refine designs.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product development environments.
  • Hands-on experience in narrowing product scope and facilitating cross-functional decisions on complex products.
  • Familiarity with world automotive regulations, consumer ratings, and major load cases.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Capability to use 3D CAD software and mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Effective prioritization, workload organization, and meeting tight delivery timelines.
