Job Overview

Start of a Better Tomorrow LLC is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our clients.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mental health terms and methods of practice, as well as excellent organizational and time management skills. They will also have a proven ability to work effectively with clients struggling with mental health, substance abuse, and other challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide case management services to clients
  • Host group counseling sessions
  • Conduct behavioral assessments
  • Monitor treatment progress and mental status of program participants
  • Maintain accurate written records for program participants
  • Provide regular reports on the services provided to clients and client progress

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of mental health terms and methods of practice
  • Experience working with clients struggling with mental health, substance abuse, and/or other challenges
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • An understanding of emotional intelligence and empathy
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills along with the ability to learn new skills and/or programs
  • Maintain a current and valid Ohio or Michigan driver's license, a good driving record, adequate insurance, and be willing to use a personal car to perform job duties
  • Maintain a current and valid QMHS certification
  • Basic computer skills
  • Successfully complete all required criminal background check and drug test

Physical Requirements:

  1. Standing: Maintaining an upright position on the feet, especially for prolonged periods of time
  2. Pushing: Applying pressure and exerting force against an object for the purpose of moving it forward or away from the source of the force – push or pull force up to 35 lbs.
  3. Lifting: Raising an object from a lower to a higher position, or moving an object laterally, from position to position-Required to lift up-to 50lbs of force independently. May be required to lift over 50lbs with assistance of another person or a mechanical lift.
  4. Stooping: Bending the body forward and down from the waist, hips and knees, sometimes for a prolonged length of time.
  5. Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction away from the body
  6. Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or moving surfaces
  7. Ability to safely operate a personal motor vehicle on a weekly basis and comply with the Company's Vehicle Safety Program
