Position Summary
This role represents the foundational position for all nursing staff at our facility with over 12 months of experience. The registered nurse will demonstrate proficiency in essential nursing skills and actively engage in unit governance. This position entails the independent provision and coordination of patient care within a specialized clinical area. The nurse will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to the enhancement of patient outcomes and satisfaction while ensuring cost-effective practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care while adhering to established standards and protocols.
- Participate in the development and implementation of strategies aimed at improving patient care quality.
- Foster a collaborative environment where patients, families, and healthcare professionals work together in care delivery.
- Maintain accountability for professional practice and contribute to the advancement of nursing standards within the unit.
Qualifications
- An Associate Degree in Nursing is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
- Current RN licensure in Maryland is mandatory prior to commencing orientation.
- A minimum of one year of nursing experience is essential.
- Professional certification is highly encouraged.
- Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing within five years is required for employees hired after a specified date.
- For those with a gap in nursing experience of five years or more, a refresher course completed within the last six months is necessary.
Essential Skills
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire.
- Must fulfill all unit-specific certification requirements.
- Proficient in using computer systems for managing patient information.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Work Environment
- Shifts may include weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities.
- Physical demands include lifting, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Exposure to patients with infectious diseases necessitates adherence to safety protocols.
