Job Title: Adjunct Instructor - Commercial Truck Driving

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor (Commercial Truck Driving) position in the Industrial & Transportation Technology department of the Academic & Student Affairs division.

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Dean of Industrial & Transportation Technology division, the Adjunct Instructor (Commercial Truck Driving) position requires a passion, demonstrated by experience, for effective teaching and advisement of diverse students.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach commercial truck driving regulations, preparing logs, pre-tripping, backing, and over-the-road maneuvers.
  • Maintain student progress records.
  • Assist students with scheduling DMV test dates.
  • Transport students to and from the test site.
  • Report truck maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Prioritize safety at all times and teach students to do the same.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain appropriate grading and assessment documentation in a confidential manner.
  • Submit grades and other reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain regular and punctual work attendance.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must possess and demonstrate a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid commercial truck driving (CTD) license.
  • At least three years of over-the-road (OTR) experience.
  • Must possess an updated medical card.
  • Familiar with DOT regulations governing commercial trucking.
  • Ability to teach: (1) Pre-trip, (2) Backing maneuvers, (3) on a 10-speed manual 53-ft commercial truck.
  • Must pass pre-employment DOT drug and alcohol screening.
  • Occupational experience must meet the current requirements of the appropriate licensing board for the area of instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in commercial truck driving.
  • Five (5) or more years of work-related experience including the competencies, skills, and knowledge level included in the CTD instructional program.
  • Ability to think multi-task, quickly and independently.
