Nurse Manager Labor and Delivery/Mother Baby

At WVU Medicine, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Nurse Manager to lead our Labor and Delivery/Mother Baby department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and evaluating all aspects of nursing care for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advises the Director on hiring, retention, interviewing, and recruitment of staff.
  • Initiates and maintains personnel records.
  • Develops and implements educational programs for professional and support staff.
  • Provides ongoing feedback to employees and counsels and disciplines as needed.
  • Monitors budgets and makes recommendations for cost-effective operations.
  • Ensures optimal productivity and cost-effective staffing patterns.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians, nurses, and other personnel.
  • Promotes customer satisfaction and establishes a unit culture that is responsive to patients and families.
  • Serves as a resource to QI teams and participates in various activities to disseminate information to staff, physicians, and others.
  • Monitors current expense and human resource funds and spends funds in accordance with the department's budget.
  • Maintains effective communication with Medical Staff, patients, staff, and other departments.
  • Assesses patient/family satisfaction issues and takes appropriate action to resolve.
  • Ensures adherence to standards and policies set forth by WVU Medicine and accrediting bodies.
  • Facilitates the professional development of personnel and oversees orientation, training, and continuing education.
  • Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates the delivery of nursing care in accordance with Standards of Practice and Standards of Care.
  • Participates in outreach activities in the community to educate and promote good relationships.


Requirements:
  • Current license to practice Registered Professional Nursing in West Virginia or applicable state.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
  • Four years of nursing experience with at least two years of management experience.
