Job Summary

CSG Consultants Inc. is seeking an experienced Associate Engineer with municipal experience to join our team. As a mid-level position in the engineering division, this role is responsible for professional engineering work related to the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of various public works and utility projects.

Responsibilities
  • Review and check plans, subdivision and parcel maps, and computations submitted by developers.
  • Provide coordination with utility agencies, consultants, and other public agencies.
  • Design, prepare plans, including drafting and specifications, cost estimates for a variety of public works improvements.
  • Perform construction inspection and may act as construction manager on various projects.
  • Provide information and respond to public inquiries, and prepare reports and recommendations.
  • Prepare applications for State and Federal funding and grants for capital and street maintenance projects.
  • Develop/review plans and specifications for the construction of public works and utility improvement projects.
  • Develop and/or analyze cost estimates for civil engineering, capital improvement, and land development projects.
  • Review and process land development applications and submittals, including parcel and subdivision maps and improvement plans for conformance with local codes and design principles.
  • Review and process right-of-way, grading, encroachment, or other permits required for public works projects.
  • Develop and/or maintain databases, spreadsheets, and reports to monitor performance of engineering or public works projects.
  • Prepare construction bid documents for publication and submission.
  • Administer public works' construction contracts and contractors.
  • Oversee work performed by entry-level engineers and coordinate work with local agency engineers and staff.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and prepare regulatory compliance reports.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Well-versed in the principles and practices of engineering and applicable laws and codes related to public works projects.
  • Knowledge of Standard Specification for public works Construction (commonly known as Green Book).
  • Knowledge of Caltrans design and construction standards.
  • 4+ years of work experience as an Assistant Engineer or equivalent.
  • Current PE California License or specialty certificates are desired but not required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize within a fast-paced work environment.
Working Conditions
  • Driving occasionally to job sites.
  • Working at a municipality or assisting municipalities with various tasks as required.
  • Sitting/standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment when dealing with deadlines and multiple projects.

The compensation for this position is $85,000 to $130,000 annually. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
