Giovanni Foods is pleased to present an opportunity within our Sanitation division.

This position operates during the 3rd shift, commencing at 10 PM with a variable conclusion, typically around 6:30 AM.

Overview

The Sanitation Specialist is tasked with executing responsibilities associated with the sanitization of machinery, equipment, and the overall facility. This role also involves delegating tasks to Sanitation Assistants and collaborating with the master sanitation schedule to guarantee that all sanitation responsibilities are fulfilled thoroughly and efficiently.

Teamwork is essential in this role, as employees are expected to support one another as needed. In the absence of a Sanitation Assistant, another qualified Sanitation Assistant or a cross-trained employee familiar with food safety job requirements will assume these responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and periodic comprehensive cleaning and sanitation throughout the plant, which includes the application of cleaning agents, washing, sweeping, and mopping.
  • Follow the plant's Master Sanitation Schedule diligently.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment as necessary to ensure thorough sanitation.
  • Understand and verify the cleaning agents used, their purposes, and the correct application processes, ensuring compliance with MSDS requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and safety standards within the facility.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a food manufacturing environment is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of sanitation experience in a food manufacturing setting.
  • Experience operating forklifts.

  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be mobile and able to navigate throughout the facility.
  • Must frequently lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Must be able to read documents and operate equipment.
  • Must possess adequate hearing to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts.
  • Must be capable of occasionally climbing, stooping, or kneeling to perform routine tasks.
  • Must be able to grip and manipulate objects.
