Position Overview

Compensation: $14.00 per hour

Are you passionate about the great outdoors? Do you find joy in caring for wildlife? Anderson Humane is seeking dedicated individuals to assist in the care of local wildlife. This role requires a commitment of approximately 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver daily care, including feeding and handling, for a diverse range of local wildlife species, from infants to adults.
  • Oversee, mentor, and support Wildlife volunteers and interns in their caretaking duties.
  • Engage with the community to provide respectful education on wildlife care practices.
  • Assist Wildlife staff in managing cases of illness and injury among animals.
  • Maintain accurate records of animal care and donations.
Work Environment
  • Full-time commitment: approximately 35-40 hours per week at a rate of $14.00 per hour.
  • Seasonal position requiring immediate availability with a flexible schedule, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
  • Work in shared spaces, fostering collaboration.
  • Comfortable working with wildlife of various temperaments and species.
  • Exposure to high noise levels and potential zoonotic diseases, including animal scratches and bites.
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Regular physical activity, including walking, standing, and lifting for up to eight hours daily.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Candidate Profile
  • Preferred experience in caring for and handling wildlife.
  • Must possess personal transportation, a valid driver's license, and an insurable driving record.
  • A genuine desire to engage with the public and a strong commitment to animal welfare and wildlife conservation aligned with Anderson Humane's mission.
  • Comfortable handling wildlife of all species and ages.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong time management skills, capable of multitasking and adapting to changing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Technologically adept, willing to learn new software and tools.
