This is an exciting opportunity to join the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a Registered Nurse in Occupational Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide competent, evidence-based care to employees and oversee licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as needed.
- Support worker-centered occupational safety and health procedures while promoting worker health, monitoring, and tracking the health status and well-being of employees.
- Assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies, and quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation.
- Contribute to the development of care delivery models, participate in strategy planning, and ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
- English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to wear protective clothing in isolation situations or during procedures.
