Job Summary

WVU Medicine is seeking a skilled Clinical Therapist to join our team. As a member of our interdisciplinary treatment team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals and families in need of behavioral health services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in treatment planning and implementation, working collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions, as well as family therapy and education.
  • Assess and document patient psychosocial needs, including high-risk indicators and psychosocial history.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans that address patient developmental needs and required interventions.
  • Collaborate with community agencies, consultants, and services to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Record and chart all patient contacts, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a related field, such as social work or psychology.
  • Licensure in a related field, such as LCSW or LPC.
  • West Virginia state criminal background check and federal background check, if applicable.
  • AVADE training within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced certification in a related field.
  • Prior experience in behavioral health.

Working Environment:

The Clinical Therapist will work in a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient facilities, and may be required to work in noisy environments. The ability to work with difficult or challenging clients of various ages and demographics is essential.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to positively and effectively communicate, negotiate, and resolve conflict.
  • Competent clinical practice and critical thinking skills, with the ability to efficiently deliver patient care with all healthcare providers.
  • Ability to be flexible in response to changes in work volume, staff, and scheduling changes.
  • Ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions and adapt to varying workloads and work assignments.
