This position is responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons at the outdoor recreation area on Holloman AFB, NM. The incumbent will work days and evenings, Monday through Friday, and must be able to rescue swimmers in trouble and administer first aid as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Continuously observe the swimming area to ensure the safety of patrons.
- Ensure the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted.
- Rescue swimmers in trouble, administer first aid, and call for medical assistance as needed.
- Warn swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommend closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail.
- Perform other related duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area.
The ideal candidate will have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training and CPR (both child and adult) training. Experience working in a swimming pool environment and knowledge of pool and safety equipment is also desirable.
This is a Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) position carrying out Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) activities for the Air Force and Space Force. The position is not included in a bargaining unit and may be closed before the stated closing date if suitable candidates are found.
