About the RoleThe Lead Medical Assistant, Critical Care is a key member of our team, responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to our Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep program. This role requires a high level of organization, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical direction to office staff and ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care
- Oversee and train office staff on various office duties to ensure cross-coverage and efficient services
- Assist with scheduling tests and treatment, and ensure the maintenance of office and clinical supply inventory
- Update MIPS in Electronic Health Record (EHR) and become a super user in the EMR system
- Prepare, clean, and maintain exam and treatment rooms, and order supplies as needed
- Provide verbal or faxed prescriptions, obtain prior authorizations, and retrieve and complete electronic prescriptions
- Release medical records, process returned x-rays, and prepare laundry for pickup
- Answer incoming calls, schedule patient appointments, and take messages, including pulling charts and routing to appropriate physicians
- Perform other administrative tasks and clinical care as assigned by the Office Manager
- High School Diploma
- MA certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- 2-3 years of experience in the healthcare industry, preferably in a hospital, physician practice, or insurance setting
- Extensive organizational and task management experience, including Electronic Medical Records experience
