Job Overview:
As a vital member of the College Health Services team, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) delivers essential primary care services to students, adhering to the NP's professional scope. The NP actively engages in health programs and initiatives that promote the overall wellbeing of the student body. This role encompasses a full-time commitment during the academic year, with a break during the summer months.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide medical management for individuals seeking primary care at the student health clinic.
  • Conduct screening and preventive health services.
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations of acute illnesses, injuries, and undifferentiated symptoms, including necessary diagnostic testing.
  • Manage chronic health conditions, with a focus on mental health.
  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based treatments, patient education, and facilitate referrals to specialty care when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with professional standards.
  • Uphold ethical and legal standards, particularly regarding patient confidentiality.
  • Participate in on-call services for weekends and after-hours, providing support for triage nursing and student patients.
  • Engage in clinical consultation and collaboration with nursing and laboratory staff, as well as other healthcare team members.

Non-Clinical Duties:
  • Contribute to working groups and projects focused on education, outreach, quality improvement, and diversity.
  • Participate in professional development and serve on college or departmental committees.
  • Provide clinical teaching as requested.
  • Maintain necessary professional certifications and licensure.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Master of Science in Nursing.
  • Experience: Completion of an accredited NP training program, preferably in Family NP; experience in Adult, Pediatric, or Women's Health NP will be considered if relevant.
  • Clinical Experience: Preferred minimum of 3 years in primary care; recent graduates may be considered; experience in college health is advantageous.

Licensure and Certification:
  • Advanced Practice Nursing licensure in Massachusetts.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • DEA certification or eligibility.

Skills:
  • Proficient in full-spectrum primary care, including mental health and common office procedures.
  • Understanding of developmental issues affecting adolescents and young adults; experience with college populations is desirable.
  • Competent in electronic health record systems and basic office software.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Commitment to diversity and health equity.
