Job Summary

**Job Title:** Mate - Steamer Pilot

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mate to join our team at Ocean Harvesters. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently piloting the steamer, supervising crew members, and coordinating maintenance of all equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pilot the Steamer: Safely navigate the vessel through various waterways and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Supervise Crew Members: Oversee the activities of crew members, provide guidance and support as needed, and ensure that all tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Coordinate Maintenance: Work with the Chief Engineer and Second Engineer to plan and execute maintenance tasks, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure that the work area is clean and organized, and that all equipment is properly maintained.
  • Report Hazards and Incidents: Immediately report any hazards, accidents, injuries, or environmental excursions to the supervisor or management team.
Requirements
  • USCG Mate UFIV 1600T License: Possess a valid USCG Mate UFIV 1600T license.
  • Physical and Cognitive Abilities: Possess the physical and cognitive abilities to perform the job safely and efficiently.
  • Experience: Preferably one year of experience as a Mate Trainee or fisherman for Omega Protein, or two years of experience as a Mate for another company.
