Position Overview:
The Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Intervention Support Specialist to enhance the educational experience of young learners. This role is pivotal in providing both instructional and non-instructional support under the guidance of certified professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the safe transportation of children during arrival and departure.
- Assist students with personal care tasks, including bathroom assistance and dressing.
- Prepare and manage instructional materials and equipment as directed.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children during emergencies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in learning environments.
- Document attendance and assist in data collection as required.
- Support the use of assistive technology and individualized instruction tools.
- Communicate effectively with students and staff through various channels.
- Supervise students during activities and drills, ensuring adherence to program standards.
- Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavioral plans under professional guidance.
- Participate in required training sessions to enhance job performance.
- Travel between assignments as necessary.
- Perform additional educational duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent college credits (60) or a PATTAN Paraeducator Certificate.
- 1-2 years of experience working with children with special needs is preferred.
- Training in crisis intervention, CPR, and First Aid is advantageous.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within an educational team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Capacity to prioritize and address the needs of students as directed.
- Experience with preschool-aged children is preferred.
- Reliable transportation is necessary.
Additional Requirements:
- Current clearances as mandated by educational regulations.
- Completion of health records and TB tests prior to employment.
Working Conditions:
This position requires physical stamina, including the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and engage in activities that support student learning.
