Job Summary

As a Physical Therapy Assistant at Jackson Health System, you will play a vital role in the rehabilitation department, working closely with Registered Physical Therapists to administer physical therapy treatments and supervise Physical Therapy Aides. Key Responsibilities

  • Administer assigned physical therapy treatments in the rehabilitation department, working under the supervision of Registered Physical Therapists.
  • Supervise Physical Therapy Aides in the movement of patients and maintenance of treatment areas and equipment.
  • Specialize in all facets of physical therapy treatment, including exercise, modality, and ward therapy.
  • Conduct progressive physical therapy treatment programs, following assessments and treatment plans established by supervising physical therapists.
  • Review patient status and treatment programs with supervising physical therapists on a frequent basis.
  • Document patient treatment in medical records according to established policy.
  • Complete and submit daily charge vouchers for assigned patients.
  • Maintain accurate productivity records and produce the appropriate amount of treatment units.
  • Order equipment needed by patients in consultation with supervising physical therapists.
  • Assist physical therapists in clinical education of physical therapy assistant students.
  • Participate in patient-related therapeutic recreation programs to transfer patient skills acquired in therapy to functional use.
  • Administer physical therapy treatment using various procedures, including manual and mechanical exercises, electrical stimulation, patient education, and ultrasound.
  • Participate in learning experiences to maintain and improve clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrate behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Expertise).

Requirements

  • Valid Florida license as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree or completion of required internship strongly preferred.
